Interim & Fractional Leadership

Senior transformation leadership, for as long as you need it.

For when the plan is clear, but the seat is empty or delivery keeps stalling. Twenty years of commercial and customer transformation leadership, embedded in your team for a defined period - full-time as an interim, or part of the week as a fractional leader - and built to hand over well.

QUICK GLANCE

Senior leadership, without the full-time hire.

Twenty years,
embedded in your team.

Head of and Director-level transformation leadership, working inside your business rather than advising from the outside.

Phase by phase,
never open-ended.

Every phase agreed upfront, with its own measures and a review before the next one starts.

Built to
hand over well.

Reporting routines, decisions and ownership left clearly in place, so your team can run it without me.

A failing €3m programme, turned round. In a previous role, I rebuilt how a nine-market transformation was delivered and brought it back on track, ahead of target in its lead market.

Day rateAgreed per engagement

Part-time or full-time, agreed one phase at a time, before anything starts.

Does this sound familiar?

The plan is clear. Delivery isn't.

The strategy is written, the budget is there, and everyone agrees on where the business needs to get to.

But the person who should be driving it has left, or hasn't been hired yet, or is already carrying three other jobs. The programme keeps moving, just not very far. Each team is doing its part, and nobody is quite joining the parts together.

A full-time senior hire might be the answer in time. It can also take six months to find the right person - and the plan can't wait that long.

That's the gap interim and fractional leadership is built for.

Where I step in

Three situations, one kind of leadership.

A programme that needs leading
A transformation that has stalled, drifted or never quite started - digital, customer experience or commercial - and needs one person accountable for getting it delivered.
A senior seat that's empty
A Head of or Director-level role in digital, customer experience or transformation, covered properly while you find the right permanent person - or held fractionally, if a full-time hire isn't needed yet.
A roadmap that needs carrying through
The findings are in, and the priorities are agreed. Now someone needs to lead the work across marketing, sales, digital and service - including roadmaps from a Web Experience Transformation diagnostic.

How it works

The first month, and what follows.

1
A conversation.

What needs leading, what's getting in the way, and whether I'm the right fit. No pitch, no obligation.

2
The first two weeks: listen and evidence.

Time with your team, your data and your customers' experience, so the plan starts from what's actually happening rather than what's assumed.

3
By the end of the first month: a plan leadership agrees.

Clear priorities, named owners and agreed measures, with a simple red, amber, green reporting routine so everyone can see how it's going.

4
Then: lead, phase by phase.

Each phase agreed in advance and reviewed before the next. Handover is built in from the start, so your team is ready to carry on when I step away.

Before and after

What changes when delivery has an owner.

Most stalled plans aren't short of ideas or effort. They're short of one person with the time and the authority to join the parts together.

As it stands
Afterwards
The plan exists, but nobody has the time or authority to drive it.
One person owns delivery, and has the authority to move it.
Progress is reported as activity - meetings held, tasks done.
Progress is reported against agreed measures.
Marketing, sales, digital and service each pull in a slightly different direction.
Everyone works to one plan.
When a temporary leader leaves, the momentum leaves with them.
Your team carries it on, because handover started in week one.

Proof, from previous roles

€3m

A failing global customer portal programme across nine markets. I rebuilt the delivery model, won back executive support, and delivered 96% portal signups and 66% app downloads in the lead market within six months, against a twelve-month target.

Delivered in an employed role before Hypernova Transform was founded, and shown here for exactly that reason: it's the same kind of leadership this page describes, and it's evidence I can stand behind.

About

I'm Adrian, and I'll be the one leading it.

Two decades leading commercial and customer transformation inside organisations like Bridgestone, SHV Energy (parent of Calor Gas) and AGA Rangemaster - usually arriving where the strategy is already written and the hard part, making it real across a real organisation, is still ahead.

I've led cross-functional teams across product, digital, data and technology, influenced leadership teams in seventeen markets, and presented budgets and business cases to European directors. What I bring to your team is the same: calm, evidence-led leadership that joins the parts together and leaves them working.

Commercial growth
40% customer acquisition growth at half the cost per acquisition, and a 33% uplift in partner sales.
Operating models that stick
A global digital operating model adopted across 17 markets, and a red, amber, green governance routine later adopted as the standard across around eleven client accounts.
Teams built, not just led
An internal digital agency scaled from nothing to 14 people - designed, recruited and led - and a customer service operation rebuilt from over 500 outstanding queries to around 90.

Common questions

A few things worth knowing upfront.

What's the difference between interim and fractional?

Interim means full-time, or close to it, for a defined period - usually covering a vacant senior role or leading a specific programme. Fractional means part of the week over a longer term - senior leadership without the cost of a full-time hire. Both are agreed one phase at a time.

What kind of roles do you step into?

Head of and Director-level leadership across commercial, digital and customer experience transformation: leading a programme, covering a vacant senior seat, or carrying a roadmap through to delivery - including one from a Web Experience Transformation diagnostic.

How long does an engagement last?

As long as it's useful, and no longer. Work is agreed one phase at a time, each with its own measures and a review before the next phase is agreed, so there's no open-ended commitment on either side.

Do we need a diagnostic first?

No. Sometimes a ten-day Web Experience Transformation is the right first phase, because it gives everyone the same evidenced picture before the leadership work starts. Often the priorities are already clear, and the work can start straight away.

Where do you work?

Based in Royal Leamington Spa. On-site across the Midlands, remote UK-wide as standard, and hybrid in London by arrangement.

How is it priced?

A day rate, agreed per engagement, depending on the scope and the number of days a week. It's agreed before anything starts and contracted through Hypernova Transform. Get in touch and I'll give you a straight figure for your situation.

Won't we become dependent on you?

No - handover is built in from the first week. The aim of every engagement is a team that can run the work without me, with the reporting routines, decisions and ownership left clearly in place when I step away.
